Hi guys! Welcome back! Today I am going to be giving you my thoughts on the Kylie Lip Kits! If you don’t know what the Kylie Lip Kits are … C’mon… Have you been living under a rock?! They are ALL the rage in matte lip sticks right now. Who doesn’t want their lips to look like Kylie’s .. Seriously. These kits are always sold out and once they restock, they sell out in seconds so it is a tad bit difficult to get your hands on them! Finally, I was able to get two of the shades I wanted; Koko K and Dolce K. Want to know if these kits are worth the hype? Bomb or Bust? Keep reading!
So let’s start with the elephant in the room – These lip kits are frigin expensive! This is why it has taken me so long to actually buy them. For a long time, I couldn’t fathom paying for these when the shipping to Canada was almost as much as one of the kits. With that being said – My addiction got the best of me and I caved. I had to! I needed them! They were taunting me! Just begging me to buy them!
As I stated, I purchased two shades; Koko K and Dolce K. I want too many other ones, but I figured this was a good start… I will get a few more shades when I can work up the ability to comprehend paying for them. (Or when I can sneak that credit card statement away from my husband!) Alright, let’s get into the review, shall we?!
Here are the swatches of the shades on my arm. The left hearts are the Lip Liner Pencils and the right hearts are the Liquid Lipstick. As I always say, the lighting in my apartment is the pits for taking photos. But this one actually turned out okay. The colours that you see are pretty damn close to what they look like in person.

So – I had a really hard time deciding whether to purchase Koko K or Candy K. Online, they look very similar, and are both super pretty. When I went on the website to purchase, Candy K was out of stock so – That was my answer – I bought Koko K.
*In hindsight, I really did want Candy K. I think that I would have liked the shade better on my skin tone seeing as it is described as more of a nude/pink shade.
Regardless… Koko K is a pale pink; Not too Barbie.. It is just a light, toned down pink. It’s quite nice, and I feel that on a lighter skin tone, it will be the PERFECT pink nude. Personally, I don’t love the way it looks on me. The shade is close to my natural lip colour, and I just don’t think it looks that great. It is VERY seldom that I wear pink shades on my lips, but I really think that I can use this maybe on my clients or friends when I do their makeup and that it will look super pretty!

If you read my K’s Baes for September, you will already know how I feel about this product. I’m frigin obsessed with it! Dolce K is described as a deep, beige nude. This is exactly the type of colour that I am drawn to – beige/brown/taupe ish type shades. The second I swatched this colour on the back of my hand, I knew it was going to be my newest obsession. I have worn Dolce K more than any other lip product in months. I love the way it looks on my skin tone, I think the shade is perfect for me, and I just can not get enough of it!

I purchased these products in the kits; Which included the lip pencil as well as the liquid lipstick. So, as per usual, you outline your lips with the pencil (Or fill them in completely, which is what I tend to do) and then top it with the liquid lipstick. This is supposed to give you the most flawless application with the truest colour.
I really like the lip pencils. I think they are super creamy and easy to use. Some pencils really drag on your lips and end up sort of hurting them, but these glide on like butter. They are quite pigmented and smell like vanilla (Which doesn’t make or break the product, but I just like it!) When they start to get dull, you do have to sharpen them with a sharpener – It would be nice if they were self sharpening, but hey! If that’s my biggest complaint, I would say I can deal with it 😉
With that being said, I do find the liquid lipsticks to be rather drying. This is the case for most liquid lipsticks seeing as they are meant to be super matte and stay in place. I have tried to put lip balm underneath the liner and lip stick, but I found that the lipstick wouldn’t fully dry. I have been putting lip balm on while I do the rest of my makeup, and then wipe it off when I am ready to apply the product. This has helped a bit, but for the most part, they are drying. Even with saying that, I can get over the drying effect of these lip products because they are so stunning!
Okay – Now for trying to get these off… Honest to god, these kits are like super glue. You apply them once and you are good to go! I wore Dolce K to a wedding, and after eating and drinking the night away, there was only the slightest bit of wear on the inside of my lips. But that’s it! Everyone was shocked that I didn’t even have to reapply once. When these babies dry, you have to scrub. I tried to use micellar water to take it off, but I felt like I had to scrub my lips too hard and it was hurting me a tad. So I tried coconut oil, and it worked much better. I just take the coconut oil, rub it on my lips with my finger until I see the product starting to wear off. Then I get a damp cotton pad, and just wipe it away. I have found that this is the easiest way to remove them.

These lip products are definitely BOMB! I think they are stunning, in the colour and in the formula. Kylie Cosmetics did an amazing job with these and I can’t wait to get my hands on a few other shades. I have my eye on one of the lip glosses too! I will definitely keep you guys updated if I purchase any other shades of the matte lip kits or glosses.
