HELLOOOOO EVERYONE! I’M BACK! It has been WAY too long since I have posted anything but July and August were crazy months for me! For those who don’t know, I recently got married and as the wedding got closer and closer, it consumed all of my time. But – No need to worry! I am going to be back to posting regularly now that the hustle and bustle of wedding planning is over!
With that being said, I have missed a few of my regular posts (Ipsy bags, K’s Baes) and I did think about posting my August favourites… But I am not going to lie, I haven’t purchased any new products in quite some time (Seeing as I was paying for a wedding!) so it would just be the same old stuff. So I have decided instead to post my Ride or Die Makeup Tag! This was a tag created by Jaclyn Hill and if you follow my blog or any of my social media sites, you will know just how much I love her and why this tag was necessary to complete! I wanted to do a video for this tag, but at this point, I really just want to get something new up on my blog! SO! Without further ado, let’s get into my Ride or Die Makeup Products!
So – The whole idea behind this tag is if you were stranded on a dessert island, and could only take ONE of each product, which one would you take. Some of these were super easy for me, while others were definitely a toss up. But I am pretty happy with my list, and I really do love all of these products. Let’s get to it, shall we?!
I am going to do this is the order that I would apply them to my face to ensure that I don’t forget anything! First up:
P R I M E R
This one was a tough one for me. I have about a million different primers in my collection; Some I love, some I don’t love. I have somewhat difficult skin; I guess technically it’s combination, but my oily T zone is SUPER OILY so I tend to lean towards mattifying primers. I have a few that I use all the time, but I always come back to this one. The Ride or Die primer that I chose, is the MAC Prep & Prime Skin Refined Zone Treatment. This was one of the very first primers I bought after becoming obsessed with YouTubers and no matter what primers I try, I always come back to it. It keeps my skin matte, it makes my pores look smaller, and I know that it is going to work every time. I do find that it tends to make my foundation a tad cakey if I put too much on, but just a light layer helps my skin look great. I love this product and I definitely feel that it will be in my collection forever.

This was was also tough for me. I love trying new foundations and I always feel that the newest ones will be better than the ones I already have. I love medium to full coverage foundations that cover all my blemishes and redness without being too heavy or cakey. Last winter, I was obsessed with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation but the more I wore it, the more cakey it looked. I have tried drugstore foundations, and high end foundations, but to me this is the best I have found for my skin. It’s the Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ Mattifying Foundation. I chose this as my Ride or Die foundation because no matter what new foundations I use, I know exactly how this foundation is going to look and feel on my skin. It is always the same, it never surprises me and I love it every time I wear it. If I am having a bad skin day, or if I just need a bit more coverage, I know that I can use this foundation and love the way it makes my skin look! It covers everything that I need it to cover, it blends like a dream, and it isn’t heavy or cakey on the skin. It’s definitely a great foundation!

I am just going to come out and say this one. My Ride or Die concealer is the Maybelline Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser. Don’t get me wrong, I have tried and loved many high end concealers, but this is the one that I have purchased and used the most. I do love the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, and the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer but if I had to choose just ONE, this would be the one I choose. For starters, it’s very inexpensive for the quality of the product and that’s always a plus. It’s buildable, it doesn’t crease and it really does erase my dark circles. My best friend (Who rarely wears makeup unless I do it for her) became obsessed with this concealer after I used it on her a few times. She loves the way it makes her skin look and she can wear this without any other makeup without looking crazy. I also love the applicator .. It looks like a little bunny tail! If you haven’t tried this concealer yet, I highly recommend trying it out!

This one was a toss up for me. There are two loose powders that I think are amazing and it took me a while to decide on which to choose. For me, powder is what makes my skin look flawless. Yes – foundation and concealer are great, but I feel that on my skin, if I am wearing a great powder, THAT is what makes my skin look smooth and perfect. For a long time, I was in LOVE with the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Loose Powder. It is so finely milled, it was so soft on the skin, and really did make my pores appear less visible. It was out of stock on their website for so long, so I decided to try other powders (Of course, because I always try the newest thing!) That is when the RCMA No Colour Powder made its debut and I haven’t looked back since! I purchased this because everyone was talking about how amazing it is and I needed to see if the hype was real. Let me assure you – This sh*t is AMAZING! This powder makes my skin look flawless, it helps control oil, it keeps my concealer from creasing … It is just my go to powder now which is why I had to name it my Ride or Die. The only issue with the powder is the packaging. The top is like a spice bottle and a ton of product comes out at one time but I can get passed that because the product is so good. I will definitely be repurchasing this stuff!

This choice was an easy one for me. I have never loved a bronzer as much as I love this one. My Ride or Die bronzer is the Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer. Not only does this product smell AMAZING, it is also just the perfect shade for my skin tone. I don’t like really warm bronzers, they tend to make me look super orange (Especially in the winter!) But this bronzer is just warm enough that I’m not orange, and just cool enough that I don’t look dead. I have been using this bronzer NON STOP since I purchased it and I will definitely be purchasing it again!

Highlighting and contouring is such a huge thing right now and I love it! I don’t really use a brightening powder under my eyes unless I am really getting dolled up. I chose this palette because of the shade options and the formula. My Ride or Die highlight and contour palette is the Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette. Now, I know that there are much cheaper options that are VERY similar to this palette but I haven’t tried them out. I bought this palette because I had heard great things about it and it totally lives up to the hype. I use the bottom left shade to contour and when I am going to highlight under my eyes, I use the top middle (yellow) powder. At some point, I am sure I will try the more cost friendly options, but for now, I love this palette and I am so happy I purchased it!

For brows, I absolutely HAD to choose two products. I love them both equally, and the amount of makeup I am wearing will dictate which of these products I choose. The two Ride or Die Brow Products I chose are the BH Cosmetics Studio Pro HD Brow Pencil and the Gerard Cosmetics Brow Bar To Go. If I am wearing a light amount of makeup and I just want to throw some colour in my brows, I always reach for the Brow Bar To Go. It is a beautifully pigmented powder that matches my brows perfectly. If I am dolling myself up, and I want to make my brows sharp and perfect, I will use the BH Cosmetics Brow Pencil. This product is super easy to use and super cheap too! I love these brow products; They work amazingly for me which is why I chose them as my Ride or Die products!

This was probably the easiest decision I had to make in this challenge. When I think of my absolute favourite mascara – The one that I would choose above all others – This is a no brainer! Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara! I bought this mascara for the first time in a little gift set on boxing day. As soon as I used it, I know I was going to be obsessed with it! It makes my lashes look long, and voluminous and absolutely gorgeous! I can put a few coats on without my lashes getting all clumpy, and it works perfectly when I put on false lashes! I have tried a LOT of drugstore mascaras, high end mascaras and I do like them but to me, nothing will compare to this amazing mascara! Do yourself a favour and pick this up! You won’t be sorry!

This one was tough for me also. To be honest, I only wear eye shadow if I am really getting dolled up. If I’m just trying to look somewhat put together, I will just throw on some liner and mascara … That is good enough for me. I own a TON of eye shadows. Some palettes, some singles. And when I feel like wearing eye shadow, I always wear something different because I have so many that I haven’t even used! But for this challenge, I really had to think of the eye shadow that I use the most. That I grab for the most. That I would want above all others. And for that, I chose the BH Cosmetics x Carli Bybel Palette. Of all the palettes and shadows that I own, I feel that this is the one I grab the most. When my friends ask me to do their makeup, I grab this palette. If I’m not sure what look I am going for, I grab this palette. I love the shades and the highlights (That I sometimes use as eye shadows as well). I think this is a great palette and it looks so great on many different skin tones so that is why I chose it as my Ride or Die eye shadow palette.

This one was probably the hardest decision I had to make. I love blush. I always wear blush if I have makeup on my face. I think that it makes the skin look fresh and adds a bit of colour which is always nice. With that being said, I have a blush palette that I got when I was in hair school (WAY too long ago… I know). And It has 12 different shades, and it is my go to blush palette. I use this all the time. But I felt that this wasn’t good enough seeing as I don’t know the brand or the shades or really, where this palette came from. So a close second to this palette is the ColourPop blush in Cruel Intentions. This shade is just a dusty, pink with the tiniest bit of orange and it just looks great on the skin. I don’t love the formula (I would prefer that this be a powder) but I can get over that because I love the colour. I have just purchased a new blush palette, so we shall see how long Cruel Intentions remains my Ride or Die blush!

I have decided to only select ONE lip product for this challenge. I have seen some people post their favourite gloss, liquid lipstick, bullet lipstick; But I have one lip product that is BY FAR the one I use the most – Definitely my Ride or Die and it might be a bit surprising. I have purchased this lip gloss more than any other makeup product in my life. I have been in love with this product since I was in high school and I can’t find anything that I love more than this for my lips. It’s the Bonne Bell Lip Lites in Cappuccino. Now… I am a lipstick junkie, for sure. I have WAY too many lip products for the amount that I actually wear them. I have been looking for the perfect nude for years and nothing has compared to this! This is honestly the PERFECT nude for my skin tone. It’s a cooler tone with a bit of pink, but no orange or brown .. just the perfect nude. This product is inexpensive but so so stunning. I actually plan on buying a bunch of these in case they stop making them. God – That would be a sad day!

Setting spray is a relatively new addition to my makeup routine. I have only tried a few but even so – I went back and forth between two different setting sprays for this challenge. The first setting spray I tried was the Urban Decay DeSlick Makeup Setting Spray. I had heard amazing things about it and I needed to try it. I did really like it, but I chose the Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day Setting Spray in Lavender for my Ride or Die! Not only do I love this brand so so much, but their products never disappoint me! I am in love with this setting spray. The scent is amazing, it really does help my makeup stay in place and the mist is so fine! I spray it on and it has basically sunk into my skin immediately. It does slightly help with keeping my skin matte but to be honest, nothing can really help as much as I would like! But this is product is really amazing and I will definitely be trying out the other scents!
Alright guys, so there you have it! My Ride or Die Makeup Tag complete! I would love to hear some of your favourites! Are they the same as mine? I think this tag is super fun and learning about everyone’s Ride or Die products has definitely made me want to try some new stuff out!
